So! Would you like your child to experience the opportunity to learn a musical instrument? Well, now you can without taking the risk of buying one of those expensive instruments, only to find out that it’s not for you. Swindon Music Service’s instrument hire service is designed for you!

At Swindon Music Service, we can arrange the hire of instruments for you throughout the school year; just contact us when you know that lessons will be starting. 

Who can hire

As long as your child lives within the Borough of Swindon, you can hire an instrument from the Swindon Music Service.  There is an opportunity for those who live outside Swindon to hire instruments at a higher rate, subject to availability.

 Accredited Teachers

Special subsidies are available to teachers who are accredited to the Music Service, and in some cases up to 50% off the hire for the first year of learning.  For more information, contact the Music Service.

Hire Periods

The hiring of an instrument can start at any point during the year as long as we have the instrument of your choice available at the time of request.

Length of hire

The aim of the hire service is to allow children an opportunity to try an instrument. It is very much hoped that, once your child becomes committed to learning, and is progressing well, you will wish to purchase a new or more advanced instrument. By returning the instrument on loan you will enable another child to gain the opportunity to learn. Therefore, the hire charges increase after the first year. It should be noted that our instruments are not for sale, but we do have an ‘ Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme’ on offer

What it costs

Our hire charges are set on a 2 termly rate (of the school’s six-term system), with a minimum of 2 terms hire.
